Between the in-town arrival building and the five residences on the outskirts of Marfa, the project explores light as threshold, linear sequence, and tectonic design through the materiality of rammed earth as unifying themes between the two sites. Through the process of reductive design and dialogue with the desert environment, the buildings are boiled down its bare essence, revealing the open-ended linear circulation as opportunities for public space amidst the isolation in the vast landscape.
